Winter Duathlon Series

15th Nov 07
I have been asked by The Endurance Coach to cover four of their Events this year, Winter Duathlon Series, Rainford nr St Helens, Meseyside

The winter duathlon series returns for 2007/2008 and promises to be as competitive as the previous series. The events are designed for winter training, allowing you to raise your HR above 'threshold' once a month and blow away the cobwebs! The event format is 3 miles running on a flat out and back traffic free course, 10 miles cycling on a recognised RTTC time trial course and a second run which duplicates the first. The 2006/2007 format proved popular with participants and will remain the same for this series.

Dates for the events are:

Race 1 - Sunday December 9th 9:30am
Race 2 - Sunday January 13th 9:30am
Race 3 - Sunday Feb 17th 9:30am

Races are limited to 60 competitors maximum
Hardshell helmets compulsory

The Cumbrian Christmas Cracker 16/12/07.

The Cumbrian Christmas Cracker takes place on Sunday 16/12/07. The South Lakes event starting from Cartmell village hall initially heads South towards Cartmell before turning North via Haverthwaite and follows fantastic roads through Grizedale Forest, Hawkshead and Ambleside before the feed stop at Grasmere. From Grasmere the route climbs 'Red Bank' to warm up following the feed stop, descends to Skelwith Bridge and return South via back lanes on the Eastern shore of Coniston. The roads and route are picturesque and there are a few hills to challenge the fittest riders. Back at Cartmel village hall there is free Christmas pudding for all riders to help you warm up. The distance of the ride is approximately 90km and fancy dress is optional for all competitors.
